Chiller & HVAC-R Monitoring — Performance & Fault Detection | EC.DATA
Chiller & HVAC-R Monitoring
Track COP, capacity, refrigerant pressures, and compressor health in real time. Catch performance degradation before it triggers a costly failure.
Monitoring Parameters
- Coefficient of Performance (COP) and kW/ton tracking
- Suction and discharge pressure monitoring
- Superheat and subcooling calculation
- Compressor current and vibration analysis
- Condenser and evaporator approach temperatures
- Refrigerant leak detection and charge level alerts
- Predictive maintenance scoring based on operating trends
Digital twins for every chiller in your portfolio
Chillers are typically the single largest electrical load in any commercial building — and the most likely to be running at 60-80% of their design efficiency without anyone noticing. EC.Chillers instruments the evaporator, condenser, compressor, and auxiliary loads of every chiller and builds a live digital twin that reports COP, approach temperatures, part-load efficiency, and refrigerant-side health continuously.
Fault signatures (condenser fouling, low refrigerant charge, stuck expansion valve, degraded compressor) are detected automatically from deviations in the thermodynamic signatures, long before they trigger a trip. Operators receive the fault, its likely cause, and an estimated kW/ton cost until it is corrected.
For multi-chiller plants, the module also runs sequencing analytics: should the lead chiller be the 800-ton unit or the 500-ton one today, given the forecast load and wet-bulb temperature? Answers drop into the BMS schedule automatically when EC.BMS is deployed.
