Power Quality Monitoring — Harmonics, Voltage & Flicker Analysis

Monitor harmonics, voltage sags, flicker, and power factor in real time. Protect sensitive equipment and comply with IEEE 519 and EN 50160 standards.

Monitored Parameters

  • Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) — Voltage and current harmonics up to 50th order
  • Voltage sags, swells, and interruptions with waveform capture
  • Flicker (Pst and Plt) per IEC 61000-4-15
  • Power factor (cos φ) and displacement power factor
  • Voltage and current imbalance across three phases
  • Transient detection and event logging

Compliance Standards

IEEE 519, EN 50160, IEC 61000-4-30, and local utility interconnection requirements.

Power-quality monitoring that protects equipment and bills

Harmonic distortion, voltage sags, flicker, and poor power factor cost commercial and industrial facilities in three ways: direct utility penalties, premature failure of transformers and motors, and production losses when sensitive equipment trips offline. EC.PQ monitors IEC 61000 / IEEE 519 compliance continuously on every feeder of interest.

The module captures THD on voltage and current for all harmonic orders, logs every sag and swell event with its waveform, tracks unbalance across phases, and computes power factor and kVArh usage for tariff compliance. Event data is preserved at sub-cycle resolution so engineers can do after-the-fact forensics on a blown VFD or a tripped UPS — see the power quality primer for fundamentals.

For operators running EC.PQ alongside EC.EMS, every power-quality event is automatically correlated with the load that caused it and the downstream equipment affected — turning what used to be a speciality consultant engagement into an everyday operational signal, with EC.Alerts dispatching notifications instantly.
