Our Story — From Consulting to Platform
EC.DATA was born from years of managing Fortune 500 energy programs at IBM Global Services. We experienced the limitations of existing tools firsthand, so we built the platform we wished existed — and opened it to the world.
Key Milestones
- Started as energy management consultants and IBM Business Partners
- Managed multi-million dollar energy projects across 3 continents
- Built EC.DATA internally to solve our own operational challenges
- Launched commercially after years of internal battle-testing
- Award-winning: IBM Business Partner of the Year, BEST Energy Savings Project (London)
- Today: 9 modules, 10+ countries, trusted by enterprises and channel partners worldwide
Why we built EC.DATA, in our own words
EC.DATA was founded by a team that had spent years inside Fortune 500 energy programmes — running M&V on retrofit projects, negotiating utility tariffs, scoping sub-metering rollouts, and writing the same dashboards over and over again because no off-the-shelf platform fit how the work actually got done. Each project produced learnings that should have compounded across the next one, but instead they ended up locked inside spreadsheets and one-off vendor portals that the next project could not reuse.
After enough engagements where we rebuilt the same analytics, the same alert rules, and the same regulator-ready reports, it became unavoidable: the bottleneck was not engineering talent, it was software architecture. So we built the platform we wished existed — one integrated stack where every project's learnings could feed forward into the next, where utility-bill audit and sub-meter telemetry shared the same warehouse, and where the same alerting infrastructure powered both an industrial chiller plant and a neighbourhood convenience store.
Today EC.DATA is used by utilities, enterprises, and channel partners across three continents, but the founding instinct still sets the agenda: every feature we ship is exercised against our own active engagements before it reaches a paying customer, and the team includes practitioners who still spend significant time inside customer facilities rather than only behind keyboards.
